“God put me on this earth to raise sheer hell.” – Richard Burton

Hellraisers is the story of four of the greatest boozers of all time: Richard Burton, Richard Harris, Peter O’Toole and Oliver Reed. Robert Sellers and JAKe cleverly weave the four biographies seamlessly into one fast-paced adventure of drunken binges, orgies, parties and fun.

Told through the eyes of Martin, a wannabe hellraiser, we begin our tale in a typical London pub at Christmas time. Martin sits alone at the end of the bar, drinking himself into oblivion. Our four hellraisers, alerted to a comrade in need, are compelled to intervene. One by one, they take this disillusioned soul on a personal tour of their lives, their tumultuous childhoods, rise to stardom, and chaotic personal lives; providing all wannabe hellraisers with a graphic account of four very cautionary tales.

This exclusive Expanded Version contains pop-up pages featuring extra artwork, sketches and photos, plus audio commentary from Robert Sellers and JAKe on selected pages.

“Be your own best friend and get
Hellraisers by Robert Sellers & JAKe. One of the best graphic novels I’ve read in ages.” – Adam Hughes, DC Comics (Wonder Woman, Before Watchmen)

Hellraisers is brilliant and rollicking. You can almost smell the fumes as you read. A graphic novel that will leave your eyes smarting like pickled onions.” – Julian Barratt (The Mighty Boosh)

Boing Boing

•Culture and entertainment blog

“The story is perfectly rendered by illustrator JAKe, who has the ability to draw uncanny likenesses of the actors with thick, raw, and seemingly haphazard lines of ink. The storyline itself is hallucinatory, like a severe case of the DTs, with scenes from movies dissolving into boozed and drugged reality. I credit Sellers and JAKe's skills for the fact that I never once got lost or confused while reading this very experimental graphic novel. In the hands of less talented creators, this book would be a boring mess. But it's the exact opposite.” – Mark Frauenfelder

•Entertainment magazine

“A fast-paced cautionary tale in comic form... Sellers captures their rogueish charm and poignant melancholy, while caricaturist JAKe expresses the glint in the eyes that never dimmed.” – Danny Graydon

“It's a match made in Hollywood heaven: Robert Sellers has retooled his 2008 book Hellraisers: The Life and Inebriated Times of Burton, Harris, O'Toole and Reed, with the animating assistance of the artist JAKe… An enjoyable, crazy ride though the mint decades of British and American stage and screen.” – Daneet Stevens
